Shri M Mohan, Distinguished Scientist holds B-Tech degree in Mechanical Engineering from College of Engineering, Trivandrum, Kerala University. He was previously Associate Director, (R&D) at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre. He is an expert in the areas of Launch vehicle system engineering, Aerospace Manufacturing, Space ordnance systems, Vehicle Integration and Project Management. During his tenure at VSSC, he has held various roles like Deputy Director, Materials and Manufacturing Entity (MME) and Deputy Director, Aerospace Ordnance Entity (ASOE) at VSSC. He was also Project Director of GSLV and was Mission Director of successful missions - GSLV-F08/GSAT6A and GSLV-F11/GSAT7A accomplished in a single year in 2018. He has also held key roles as Project Director of Cryo Upper Stage (CUS), Project Director of Space Capsule Recovery Project (SRE-2) and System Leader of the Moon Impact Probe (MIP) Project of Chandrayaan-1 mission which successfully carried the National Flag to the moon’s surface. He was also Deputy Director of Materials and Manufacturing Entity while at LPSC.

He is a recipient of the ISRO Performance Excellent Award for the year 2016 and ISRO Merit award for the year 2010. He is Fellow of Aeronautical Society of India, Life member and currently President of the “Society of Aerospace Manufacturing Engineers” (SAME) - India, Life member of High Energy Materials Society of India (HEMSI) and Life member of Indian Society of Aerospace and related mechanisms (INSARM).
